Let’s Go To South Beach

Let's Go To South Beach
Sorry I have been out of touch.
As you know I had a big birthday this month.
4-0
It wasn’t as painful as I thought, enjoyed a great day with family and friends.
We had a beautiful bonfire on the beach, watched the sunset and ate smores.

What more could a girl ask for?
Well…How about a girl’s trip to South Beach!
The last of my birthday celebration is this weekend and we are heading to Miami!
Lots of sun, cocktails, good food and of course dancing!
When packing I try to keep in mind packing items that can be used more than once.
Picking colors and shoes that you can mix and match.
My TKEES for easy airport traveling will be perfect by the pool.
My jewelry can go day or night as well as easy to wear sundresses.
So here you have it, my packing list! You can click on the image above to get more details.
I’ll take lots of pictures and I can’t wait to tell you all about it!

Spring Finds!!!!!

Spring Finds!!!!!

Spring Finds!!!!! by fashionablechicks

So I don’t know if you have noticed, but its getting awfully close to March. Growing up, March always meant one thing… Spring Break and spring weather! However, someone forgot to mention to me that lawyers do not get Spring Break! If I had known this I might have re-thought my career choice.
However, given the recent weather trends lately and our 65 degree days, I think it is safe to say that even without spring break, sunny skies are around the corner. While at Poppys of Atlanta last weekend I saw all these beautiful spring pieces and decided I had to share some of my favorites.
1. Hudson White Jeans
These are a spring necessity.  White jeans seamlessly transition you from early spring when the weather is just becoming warm all the way through summer. They look great with anything and like all denim, can be dressed up or dressed down.
2. Rebecca Taylor floral top
This beautiful Spring top can be put on with white jeans, dark jeans, or even under a suit. The ruffling details and the cut make the fit great and allow it to still be flowy without looking like a bag.
3. Trina Turk Yellow Jacket/Blazer
Ya’ll know I am a sucker for a good jacket. This one looks great on but is super lightweight and can be worn with jeans and dress pants for work.
4. Trina Turk Accessories; Necklace, Ring, and Cuff
Trina Turk is relatively new to the jewelry business but like their clothing, they are right on the mark. This necklace, ring, and cuff could be worn for lunch with friends or to dress up a flirty dress for a night out on the town. The best part about Trina Turk jewelry; its all very reasonably priced.
5. Ali Ro Rain Jacket
I know Leslie has told ya’ll about these before, but they are AMAZING. I actually have ammm… four. They are lightweight, look great on, don’t wrinkle, and will go with anything. Especially in Atlanta where our summers tend to be monsoon like, they are a life saver.
6. Joie Striped Top
I am so happy the striped trend is here to stay. Stripes are always more fun to put on than just a solid shirt and add a bit of interest under a blazer or open sweater. Since it is still early spring, this top is great when it is not quite warm enough for sleeveless shirts yet.
7. Rebecca Taylor Sweater
Every wardrobe needs one of these. In the early spring, there is still a crisp in the air and a light sweater will keep you just warm enough. In the summer, if you are like me, you always have a sweater like this in your purse because the air condition seems to always be set on freezing.
8. Trina Turk Crochet Dress
Spring wouldn’t be spring without a great spring dress. This one is super cute with its colored stripes and could easily be worn to an afternoon wedding or with flats on a Saturday. Throw a blazer over this and you are set for work too.
8. Jbrand Skinny Jeans
I’ve said it before. A good pair of skinny jeans are your best friend. These are simply perfect. Wear them to the grocery store. Wear them to work on Fridays. Wear them with anything else you see. You just can’t go wrong.
 9. A Great pair of shoes!
During the summer, I live in two types of shoes; wedges and flat fun sandals. You can’t go wrong. The ones shown are just two great examples of these.
Happy Spring Everyone!!!

Vegas Baby!!!!

Vegas Baby!!!!

Vegas Baby!!!! by fashionablechicks featuring clutch bags

Ok sooooo, I guess my last post about what to pack was quite a hit! I’ve had dozens of people ask me to do one for them. My other sista cousin is heading to Las Vegas with a big group of friends this weekend. My question is- when do I get to go on a trip???

Although in Vegas you can go a little crazy with clothes, I wanted to put together outfits that I knew she would feel comfortable in and also wear back home.
1. Day wear- Something casual and easy to walk around in. I picked this cute blazer that will transition so well into spring. I’m always cold in casinos so I paired with a cute pair of jeans and these super cute Kade Spade wedges. I added a pretty spectacular bag- but this Marc Jacobs bag will NEVER go out of style. Its fab. Add a cute cuff and the coral necklace for color and you are good to go.
2. Night- Again Im always cold in Vegas so I paired skinny J. Brand jeans with a great beaded top. Add a super high pair of stilettos and honey you will win BIGGGGG! Grab the same cuff and add a clutch. You’ll look so hot!
3. Dress Night- I love a dress. One stop shop, easy to pack. Grab the same clutch, add a Loren Hope necklace, a bunch of bangles, great bold cocktail ring. More, more and more accessories!
4. Don’t forget a great pair of shades-it is BRIGHT in Vegas BABY!
Did I mention that all of these clothes came from Piperlime? Well, they did! Shop away!
XOXO,
Happy Shopping Girls and Bet on Black for me!

What to Pack…..

What to Pack.....
My cousin is heading to Costa Rica next week and I told her I would help her shop and pack.
I put together a few things that you can mix and match in order to get a bunch of different looks without packing a ton. I have to admit I am a terrible packer but if you plan ahead and lay it all out it will help!

1. Evening wear- Resort Casual, mix it up with shoes and jewelry. This JOIE jumper is so cute!
(Rebecca Taylor, Joie, Velvet)

2. Day wear- I love a denim shirt, they are great to throw in your purse or beach back, use it as a jacket or coverup as the sun goes down. Pair it with a cute pair of white shorts, hat and a wedge and you are good for a great excursion! Love the K. Jacques sandals- I promise you will wear them out! (J. Brand, J.Crew, K.Jacques)

3. I love Missoni and I especially love their bathing suits! This cover up is great because it is sheer and you still look sassy without feeling completely covered up. (Missoni, Michael Kors)

4. A definite is a pair of white jeans- you can wear these with a great top for dinner or with a tank for daytime! A must!! (Old Navy, Spendid, Kate Spade)

-These three pairs of shoes should do the trick for all of the outfits!
-Add a great clutch and you are good to go!

Happy Shopping!

From 9-5 to Weekend Chic

From 9-5 to Weekend Chic

From 9-5 to Weekend Chic by fashionablechicks

As I mentioned before, I am a lawyer. (Insert your favorite lawyer joke here :).  Let’s be honest, lawyers are not known for their “fashionable wardrobe.” Think your typical, drab, pant suit, and multiply that by your three color options; gray, brown, and black, and that’s about the extent of your wardrobe.  To make matters even more interesting, I work for the government, and when the Georgia Legislature is in session, I have to be in some form of a “suit,” so dress pants and a jacket, every day.  The legislatures even limit my jeans days…. sheeshh…

But never one to be held back by “office dress codes” I have discovered the secret to working in a conservative profession and still feeling fashionable and fabulous.  Behold…. the “Blazer/Work Jacket.” I promise it will solve all your work-weekend problems.

All you need to have a work wardrobe and a weekend look you will love is a few key pieces: 1. A great pair of black work pants. I prefer Theory – seriously. They are expensive, but they NEVER WRINKLE… I kid you not. I don’t know how they do it, but they manage to fit and look nice week after week. 2. A great white shirt. This Bellatrix shirt I have shown is only $78.00, looks fabulous with jeans and work-wear, and most importantly, is machine washable. 3. Some great skinny jeans – like these JBrands. Anyone who knows me knows I LOVE jeans. I think I honestly am verging on 25 pairs at the moment…. that is for another post. 4. Some great black pumps. They are work appropriate and look great with your jeans. They almost become your “uniform shoes.” 5. Finally – some great accessories. A classic black purse, great statement watch and beautiful diamond earrings. All work appropriate that can easily transfer to a Saturday lunch date.

The best part now, picking out a fabulous blazer/work jacket.  Your options are limitless! And the best part, you can wear it with black pants for the week and jeans for the weekend. I personally think jeans and a great blazer/jacket is probably one of the best outfits a woman can put on. You always look put together and chic. And with Georgia weather not being super cold – you always manage to stay warm as well.

My dream blazer/work jacket…. The classic Chanel Jacket. The black/white above is not a Chanel but modeled after one. I am not sure my law career will ever take off to afford a Chanel beauty but one day!

So that is how this lawyer makes it through the work week. And even sometimes, I get a celebratory jeans day on Friday.

XOXO
Jennie

Celebrating the 70’s in honor of my birthday!

Since I just celebrated a birthday I thought it would be perfect for me to write about a hot trend for the Spring-

70’s Style!!!

Yes, I was born in the 70’s and I love looking at pictures of my mom and my aunts during this time-they were so HIP and glamorous! Always sporting a great tan with big gold hoops, hair parted down the middle with big sexy loose curls.  I wish I had some pictures of them I could add (hint hint Mom).
I’ll have to get back to that.

Anyway, 70’s style is hot for the spring.
Wide leg trousers, floppy hats, peasant tops, chunky wooden wedge sandals, maxi dresses, jumpsuits and loose and bouncy hair.
(I’ve needed big hair to come back in style for a while now)

Jennifer Lopez looks great in her floppy hat and her fab scarf, I might have to try this since I have many many many BAD HAIR DAYS!

I love Nicole Ritchie’s style. Her hair looks great parted down the middle with loose waves. Check out her new jewelry line -House of Harlow.

To pull off this look make sure you don’t do it from head to toe. Add a piece here and there. Wide leg jeans with a simple white top. A great black jumpsuit with a big pair of gold hoops. Big chunky wedges with a cool maxi dress. And if you are really brave you can wear a pair of hot pants!!

Don’t throw away your skinny jeans, just try something new! High waisted wide legged trousers with a tall wedge will actually elongate you if you are petite. Trust me I know!!!

I think this belt would be perfect for my 70’s look, I might need to learn to crochet!

When your getting dressed add a little inspiration by downloading songs by Diana Ross, Roberta Flack and Sly and the Family Stone! You’ll be ready for a night on the town…..
