The Sun is Shining Today
(well it was yesterday when I wrote this post)-
Thank you Mother Nature!
I know it is still cold but we can dream of warmer days, right?
I like to plan in my head what I want to buy in the upcoming months.
Look at what I have from last season and just tweak it a bit.
I desperately need some new leopard flats and possibly a pump.
I wear these almost three days a week.
They look great with bright colors for spring and I love to mix them with patterns as well.
They make me feel a little less “office-ish” when I go to work.
Cuffed jeans. They look great with flats, sandals, flip flops and even with pumps. I can not live without them!
This season I want a pair that is a little more worn,
a hole here or there.
These sandals are by Joie and we fell in love with them at Market in New York.
Coming soon to Poppy’s this Spring!!
Coach has stepped up their game, fo sho! I love the color and the structure of this bag.
I swear I don’t have anything like it in my closet.
Color, color, color.
This DVF skirt is a small sample that I am going crazy for anything striped this Spring.
My mom bought me a great navy and white striped blazer for Christmas.
I can’t wait to pair it with my favorite coral jeans or this yellow scarf
AND my new leopard flats.
Army green is one of my favorite colors for Spring and Summer.
It look s great paired with white and my favorite denim shirt.
This light weight J. Crew jacket will be perfect for cool Atlanta nights.
I think I’ll add a flashy rhinestone necklace or two to dress it up a bit.
This Campari Necklace by Stella & Dot will do the trick!
Hope this helps for your Spring Shopping ideas.
I’ve put together a few of my favorite things for the holiday gift guide.
A little something for all of the CHICKs in your life, young and old.
From a nice bottle of nail polish for your co-worker to a pave bracelet for your bestie.
The Estee Lauder Zodiac Compacts and Chan Luu Scarf will make any sister smile.
A nice bath robe for your mother or mother in law.
The laquered box for your oh-so-chic friends.
Perfume and these XO Earrings for your honey to give you.
The leopard clutch and Via Spiga shoes are a must have for any holiday soiree!
Everywhere I look this season I see Bling! And it is no secret that I love bling. Whether it is a jeweled blouse, a sexy glittery dress or a beautiful rhinestone bib necklace- I love it! Wear a great sparkly … Continue reading
Heading to my Shangri-La on Wednesday.
I have always had a love affair with New York City.
I used to go there with my mother at Christmas, it is our special place.
As a little girl I dreamed of living there when I grew up-
as an artist, a museum curator, a fashion designer.
Luckily, I am now able to travel to New York for work.
I am traveling with one of my “besties”!
She is letting me tag along on another Poppy’s buying trip.
We always have a wonderful time,
a little work (actually a lot but it doesn’t feel like work),
lots of vino and good laughs!
The Big Apple better watch out!
What to pack….
1. A great bag
2. Cozy shirt for traveling
3. Easy layers to wear to market
It is freezing in there.
4. Great Pair of Jeans.
I love these a little worn paired with the Chanel Inspired Blazer
3. Comfy Ballet Flats for lots of walking
I really hate flats but for these I’ll make an exception
4. Great Day to Night Outfit-
Dressy blouse paired with a blazer and some edgy jewels
4. Something for dinner and possibly dancing…
5. Some Kick Ass Shoes
6. And of course a little inspiration.
Ok, sooooo – I was asked to speak to a women’s organization about Fall Trends.
I am very excited about it. I do two things very well.
2. Talk about Clothes/Shopping/Trends
So I hope that I am not spoiling the discussion but I started putting my ideas together.
This may be a two or three blog process but here is a start to fall trends.
So you know, I don’t always like ALL of the trends out there.
These are the trends that I can see easily fitting into my wardrobe as well as my friends and clients wardrobes.
Fall Trends to Buy….
1. LEATHER – I keep repeating myself but this may be my fav.
Leather leggings, Leather trimmed blazer, Leather skirt.
“The more appealing woman has a bit of an edge to her that makes her alluring.”
2. Dresses/Suits – Yes, the Mad Men look is still in.
I love a form fitting dress or a beautifully tailored suit with sheer hose and a pair of super high heels.
A great addition to your work wardrobe or for all my ladies who lunch.
Prim Appeal with an Urban Edge.
3. Peplum – I love anything with a peplum.
I think they hide a multitude of flaws.
4. Military Jackets – Anything double breasted.
This will look great with jeans for the weekend or dressed with a great pair of slacks for work.
I love this Free People Military Jacket- it hits on all of the trends double breasted, peplums, and cable knit
I especially like anything army green. It is one of my favorite colors to wear.
5. Western Wear – Anything with suede, shearling or denim.
This is definitely an easy trend. I love this denim shirt from j.crew. It would look great with the leather skirt or leather leggings.
Or a great boucle skirt for casual Friday.
These booties are really cute. Be careful with this trend.
My suggestion is unless you are 6 feet tall with skinny skinny long legs buy them a little more narrow at the top so your skinny jeans with lay just over the top of them. If they are wider at the top and you tuck your jeans into them they will make your legs look shorter and stumpier.
And noooooone wants this!
Happy Shopping, I’ll be back with more fall trends shortly!
As I mentioned before, I am a lawyer. (Insert your favorite lawyer joke here :). Let’s be honest, lawyers are not known for their “fashionable wardrobe.” Think your typical, drab, pant suit, and multiply that by your three color options; gray, brown, and black, and that’s about the extent of your wardrobe. To make matters even more interesting, I work for the government, and when the Georgia Legislature is in session, I have to be in some form of a “suit,” so dress pants and a jacket, every day. The legislatures even limit my jeans days…. sheeshh…
But never one to be held back by “office dress codes” I have discovered the secret to working in a conservative profession and still feeling fashionable and fabulous. Behold…. the “Blazer/Work Jacket.” I promise it will solve all your work-weekend problems.
All you need to have a work wardrobe and a weekend look you will love is a few key pieces: 1. A great pair of black work pants. I prefer Theory – seriously. They are expensive, but they NEVER WRINKLE… I kid you not. I don’t know how they do it, but they manage to fit and look nice week after week. 2. A great white shirt. This Bellatrix shirt I have shown is only $78.00, looks fabulous with jeans and work-wear, and most importantly, is machine washable. 3. Some great skinny jeans – like these JBrands. Anyone who knows me knows I LOVE jeans. I think I honestly am verging on 25 pairs at the moment…. that is for another post. 4. Some great black pumps. They are work appropriate and look great with your jeans. They almost become your “uniform shoes.” 5. Finally – some great accessories. A classic black purse, great statement watch and beautiful diamond earrings. All work appropriate that can easily transfer to a Saturday lunch date.
The best part now, picking out a fabulous blazer/work jacket. Your options are limitless! And the best part, you can wear it with black pants for the week and jeans for the weekend. I personally think jeans and a great blazer/jacket is probably one of the best outfits a woman can put on. You always look put together and chic. And with Georgia weather not being super cold – you always manage to stay warm as well.
My dream blazer/work jacket…. The classic Chanel Jacket. The black/white above is not a Chanel but modeled after one. I am not sure my law career will ever take off to afford a Chanel beauty but one day!
So that is how this lawyer makes it through the work week. And even sometimes, I get a celebratory jeans day on Friday.

(if you are in Atlanta- Laura from Jolie Spa ROCKS
for a spray tan!)
I’m loving Alice + Olivia‘s linen gold shorts, they are my fav. Luckily, dressy shorts are everywhere this season so you don’t have to spend a fortune. Try J. Crew, Banana Republic etc. for a less expensive pair.
Akiko, BCBG and Rolando Santana have great shorts jumpers!
Add a tank, blazer, cute hat, great pair of shoes,
a little Keri Hilson-Pretty Girl Rock
and Life is Good!
xo, a fashionable chick
PS. Tory Burch’s Spring line looks oh so seventies! Check it out for a little inspiration.
