You Ask For It, You Get It!

Ok, sooooo – I was asked to speak to a women’s organization about Fall Trends.

I am very excited about it. I do two things very well.

1. Talk

2. Talk about Clothes/Shopping/Trends

So I hope that I am not spoiling the discussion but I started putting my ideas together.

This may be a two or three blog process but here is a start to fall trends.

So you know, I don’t always like ALL of the trends out there.

These are the trends that I can see easily fitting into my wardrobe as well as my friends and clients wardrobes.

Fall Trends to Buy….

1. LEATHER – I keep repeating myself but this may be my fav.

Leather leggings, Leather trimmed blazer, Leather skirt.

“The more appealing woman has a bit of an edge to her that makes her alluring.”

2. Dresses/Suits – Yes, the Mad Men look is still in.

I love a form fitting dress or a beautifully tailored suit with sheer hose and a pair of super high heels.

A great addition to your work wardrobe or for all my ladies who lunch.

Prim Appeal with an Urban Edge.

3. Peplum – I love anything with a peplum.

I think they hide a multitude of flaws.

4. Military Jackets – Anything double breasted.

This will look great with jeans for the weekend or dressed with a great pair of slacks for work.

I love this Free People Military Jacket- it hits on all of the trends double breasted, peplums, and cable knit

I especially like anything army green. It is one of my favorite colors to wear.

5. Western Wear – Anything with suede, shearling or denim.

This is definitely an easy trend. I love this denim shirt from j.crew. It would look great with the leather skirt or leather leggings.

Or a great boucle skirt for casual Friday.

These booties are really cute. Be careful with this trend.

My suggestion is unless you are 6 feet tall with skinny skinny long legs buy them a little more narrow at the top so your skinny jeans with lay just over the top of them. If they are wider at the top and you tuck your jeans into them they will make your legs look shorter and stumpier.

And noooooone wants this!

Happy Shopping, I’ll be back with more fall trends shortly!

Rebecca Taylor Lovefest

Rebecca Taylor Lovefest

As you know, I’m in the mood for Fall.

I’m tired of my summer clothes, time for them to hibernate.

I will like them again next year. Maybe.

I’m off to market this weekend and of course I can’t wait to visit my favorite showroom…

Rebecca Taylor!

I have a small crush on this designer.

I want everything.

Her style is

Feminine and Sexy.

Romantic and Rock N Roll.

Sugar and Spice.

I love the idea of a ruffled blouse combined with leather pants and a rockin’ boot with a gold heel!

Check out this NAIL HEAD dress, come on!

A perfectly feminine and curvy silhouette with edgy nail heads- gotta have.

My girlfriends laugh at me because I can walk into a store and I gravitate to anything by RT even without knowing the designer.

So here is my ode to Rebecca.

God Love Her!

I can’t wait to share my pics from market this weekend and all the trends that are on the horizon.

New website launch is around the corner-

without giving away the surprise

y’all go ahead and mark your calendars for August 23rd.

Details to follow.

Leslie

Spring Finds!!!!!

Spring Finds!!!!!

Spring Finds!!!!! by fashionablechicks

So I don’t know if you have noticed, but its getting awfully close to March. Growing up, March always meant one thing… Spring Break and spring weather! However, someone forgot to mention to me that lawyers do not get Spring Break! If I had known this I might have re-thought my career choice.
However, given the recent weather trends lately and our 65 degree days, I think it is safe to say that even without spring break, sunny skies are around the corner. While at Poppys of Atlanta last weekend I saw all these beautiful spring pieces and decided I had to share some of my favorites.
1. Hudson White Jeans
These are a spring necessity.  White jeans seamlessly transition you from early spring when the weather is just becoming warm all the way through summer. They look great with anything and like all denim, can be dressed up or dressed down.
2. Rebecca Taylor floral top
This beautiful Spring top can be put on with white jeans, dark jeans, or even under a suit. The ruffling details and the cut make the fit great and allow it to still be flowy without looking like a bag.
3. Trina Turk Yellow Jacket/Blazer
Ya’ll know I am a sucker for a good jacket. This one looks great on but is super lightweight and can be worn with jeans and dress pants for work.
4. Trina Turk Accessories; Necklace, Ring, and Cuff
Trina Turk is relatively new to the jewelry business but like their clothing, they are right on the mark. This necklace, ring, and cuff could be worn for lunch with friends or to dress up a flirty dress for a night out on the town. The best part about Trina Turk jewelry; its all very reasonably priced.
5. Ali Ro Rain Jacket
I know Leslie has told ya’ll about these before, but they are AMAZING. I actually have ammm… four. They are lightweight, look great on, don’t wrinkle, and will go with anything. Especially in Atlanta where our summers tend to be monsoon like, they are a life saver.
6. Joie Striped Top
I am so happy the striped trend is here to stay. Stripes are always more fun to put on than just a solid shirt and add a bit of interest under a blazer or open sweater. Since it is still early spring, this top is great when it is not quite warm enough for sleeveless shirts yet.
7. Rebecca Taylor Sweater
Every wardrobe needs one of these. In the early spring, there is still a crisp in the air and a light sweater will keep you just warm enough. In the summer, if you are like me, you always have a sweater like this in your purse because the air condition seems to always be set on freezing.
8. Trina Turk Crochet Dress
Spring wouldn’t be spring without a great spring dress. This one is super cute with its colored stripes and could easily be worn to an afternoon wedding or with flats on a Saturday. Throw a blazer over this and you are set for work too.
8. Jbrand Skinny Jeans
I’ve said it before. A good pair of skinny jeans are your best friend. These are simply perfect. Wear them to the grocery store. Wear them to work on Fridays. Wear them with anything else you see. You just can’t go wrong.
 9. A Great pair of shoes!
During the summer, I live in two types of shoes; wedges and flat fun sandals. You can’t go wrong. The ones shown are just two great examples of these.
Happy Spring Everyone!!!

Bargain Shopping!!

I love to shop. Seriously, it is something that truly makes me happy. I know I sound like every other girl in the world but shopping really is my happy place.  When I was having a particulary hard semester during college people kept telling me to do things that make me happy. So I went to the Neimans on Wisconsin Avenue once a week and looked at the purses. I kid you not. I never bought anything but just looking was enough to put me in a good mood.
Unfortunately, my love to shop has never matched my ability to buy.  My fashion wants always seem to be a tad bit larger than my fashion budget. And  by tad, I mean … alot.  So with my law career ehh… only in its beginning stages, and my attempt to win the lottery yielding no success, I had to find a way to maximize my shopping budget but still get the fashion fix I need.
Thus, I tell you I have I become a master of what can only be referred to as bargain shopping and I thought I would share a few tips ya’ll.
1. Know your bargain stores
I wish I had all the money in the world to go to Neimans and buy everything I ever wanted for full price…but alas, this is not the case. But there are numerous stores that are crawling with designer clothes for literally half the price. My favorites are Nordstrom Rack, Loehmanns, and TJMaxx.

These places are full of designers such as Hudson, Theory, Marc by Marc Jacobs, JBrand, Nanette Lepore, Rebecca Taylor, Trina Turk, Joie only to name a few. I have bought over five pairs of Hudson Jeans from Loehmanns for $60.00. I have bought a Nanette Lepore bucle’ jacket for $70.00 originally $365.00, a Rebecca Taylor bucle jacket for $120.00 originally $425.00, a pair of JBrand courdoroys for $69.00 originally $198.00 all from Nordstrom Rack. Last weekend I found a pair of Paige turquroise colored denim jeans for $70.00.  I could go on but you get the idea. The possibilities are endless. Now be warned, these stores require some looking – and by looking I mean actually scouting things out. But I promise you its worth it… And if you are like me, shopping makes you happy anyway, especially when you get a great deal.
2. Know your sale cycle, and be patient.
Most fashionistas/a.k.a. hopeless shoppers know when things go on sale; the end of the season. Mid to late January, the winter items at your favorite boutique will go on sale to make way for the fabulous spring clothes. Mid to late August, the spring and summer stuff will go on sale to make way for the beautiful winter and fall stuff. But as the old saying goes, good things come to those who wait. I cannot tell you the number of times I have purposely waited (painfully I might add) for a beautiful piece of clothing to make it through to the end of season to be put on the 75% off rack.  I typically only do this for extra expensive items that I would otherwise not be able to afford, and ones that I know will take me into the following season as well.  Case in point, a beautiful, cashmere, Joie Sweater that was orignally $448.00 that I got for 75% off at $112.00 in mid January. I wanted it since they day it was unpacked.

3. Use the internet
My last bargain tip; use the internet.  Sign up for email promotions. Check websites. Join sale websites like Gilt Groupe. I cannot tell you how many times I have recieved email coupons from stores like Loehmanns that will not advertise or tell you about the coupon, but will happily accept it. Usually it is an additional 25% off or 20% a sale item. Also, glance at those email updates you get everyday. In this internet age, many websites like Piperlime or Banana Republic will do additional percentages off during low traffic times such as 8am to 11am on a Tuesday.  Now I am not saying go online shopping at work… but if you happen to stumble across a great deal while drafting a contract, say yes and quickly get back to drafting.

HAPPY SHOPPING,
XOXO

What to Pack…..

What to Pack.....
My cousin is heading to Costa Rica next week and I told her I would help her shop and pack.
I put together a few things that you can mix and match in order to get a bunch of different looks without packing a ton. I have to admit I am a terrible packer but if you plan ahead and lay it all out it will help!

1. Evening wear- Resort Casual, mix it up with shoes and jewelry. This JOIE jumper is so cute!
(Rebecca Taylor, Joie, Velvet)

2. Day wear- I love a denim shirt, they are great to throw in your purse or beach back, use it as a jacket or coverup as the sun goes down. Pair it with a cute pair of white shorts, hat and a wedge and you are good for a great excursion! Love the K. Jacques sandals- I promise you will wear them out! (J. Brand, J.Crew, K.Jacques)

3. I love Missoni and I especially love their bathing suits! This cover up is great because it is sheer and you still look sassy without feeling completely covered up. (Missoni, Michael Kors)

4. A definite is a pair of white jeans- you can wear these with a great top for dinner or with a tank for daytime! A must!! (Old Navy, Spendid, Kate Spade)

-These three pairs of shoes should do the trick for all of the outfits!
-Add a great clutch and you are good to go!

Happy Shopping!
